Kosciuszko Street Primary School staff learned how The Little Village Project can support their students in their learning, thanks to a special presentation delivered by project founder Ben Tunks.
During the presentation, Ben introduced the project and its mission to provide flexible funding for academic, social, and developmental interventions for students.
The project is supported by businesses and Gippslanders to offer financial support for a range of services including cognitive assessments, play therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and mental health support such as counselling.
The Little Village Project enables schools to apply for funding when they identify a student who is having difficulty in engaging in their learning. The application process involves documenting the student’s needs and submitting a request, which The Little Village Project then reviews and potentially approves.
The meeting also addressed concerns about confidentiality and support for families who may be hesitant to seek help. Ben assured staff that the process is designed to be supportive and discreet, focusing on the student’s well-being and learning needs being met.
The Little Village Project’s collaboration with Kossie primary marks a promising development in educational support, demonstrating a commitment to addressing student needs with innovative and compassionate solutions. As more and more local businesses and individuals pledge their support for The Little Village Project, the capacity to support more schools, and students, grows.
