The Kurnai Young Parents Program Mentoring Initiative recently reached its six-month pilot milestone. In that short time, we’ve already seen strong, genuine bonds forming between young parents and their mentors.
Created to give recent KYPP graduates life-changing guidance beyond the program, the initiative is helping young parents flourish, supported by the generosity of community members right here in the Latrobe Valley.
In partnership with Kids First Australia, the KYPP, the Latrobe Health Assembly and Kindred Spirits Enterprises, these connections were captured in a short documentary released during National Volunteer Week.
The documentary features two mentors – Rebecca and Gareth – and three mentees, or young parents, – Brooke, Ani and Lilly – who openly share their experiences, their hopes for the future and what the program means to them.
