First Nations entrepreneurs from across Gippsland recently gathered to connect, share ideas, and take significant strides toward realising their business ambitions at a dynamic workshop co-hosted artist Hollie Johnson and Kindred Spirits Enterprises’s Shaun Mallia.
The Aboriginal Entrepreneurs Workshop, led by the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation in partnership with Startup Gippsland, provided a safe and supportive space for participants to build new skills and advance their business ideas.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in activities like identifying target audiences and crafting compelling elevator pitches, equipping them with practical tools to refine and test their concepts.
“For many, this marks an important first step in building the confidence to share their innovative ideas,” Shaun said.
“I’m excited to see what the next group will bring to the table in October.”
The next workshop is scheduled for Saturday, 19 October, at Forestec in East Gippsland. To register for this free workshop, visit here.
The workshop will cover:
- How to come up with ideas for new products or services for your business: This is important even for entrepreneurs with an existing business, to be able to identify new customers, diversify income streams, reduce risk and adapt to change.
- Understanding your customers, including their motivations and barriers and how best to reach them.
- How to test new products or new marketing approaches by talking to real customers from day one, so you can learn what will work best without spending a lot of time and money.
- Building business partnerships: How to start and grow your business more quickly by partnering with more established local businesses.
